Land Reform: MDC versus Zanu PF
As we celebrate 32 years of Independence: My views on land reform
I support responsible, fair, and non-partisan land reforms in Zimbabwe (and South Africa). I support efforts to empower people so they can produce enough food to feed their families.
Zanu PF Greed
I detest Zanu PF greed, characterized by land grabs, destructive policies, and neglect of the people.
Zanu PF have turned people against a policy that really is the only long lasting solution to our problems. It is the only way to long-term peaceful coexistence as a people. If white settlers stole the land from our parents, Zanu PF elites have retaken the land but kept it to themselves. They are like a policeman who helps himself to stolen and recovered property. The land belongs to the people. People need it to produce food for their families. Politicians and the ex-combatants are the heroes who fought for the people. They shouldn’t allocate themselves these huge farms at the expense of the people. Or, was the war fought to enrich a few?
The current status quo will not do. It was unacceptable when white farmers favoured it (before land reform): It is unacceptable now. Our children will have no choice but to drive fight and drive these new invaders (Zanu PF) out of those lands. Zanu PF are creating a non-sustainable social system that will lead to cyclical violence. How irresponsible.
MDC misinformation
I detest MDC affiliated denials about injustices of the past, including a land system that was discriminatory and plan evil. Black people were forced out of fertile lands into the wild to start afresh. The MDC and others need to accept the truth, criticize and fight the current system, while proposing a better alternative. Or perhaps, support the concept, and seek to clean it up.
Misinformation and spreading lies about the past, seeking to undermine Zanu PF in order to get votes is sick politics. It is unnecessary and dangerous: you always get found out.
The MDC should not seek to undermine the concept of land reform, unless proposing a better solution. Wake up and smell the coffee: Its not the land reform that is a problem, it is the greedy Zanu PF so and so’s who are no different from the London looters. The greed of this Zanu PF lot, is matched by the greed of the white settler before him. Grab as much as you can, and turn a blind eye to the hungry and landless.
